Deadliest Moth

Hey, haven't posted on here in a while, so here's a moth crossed with a Swiss Army Knife that I drew. Hope you like it.
This was rendered in graphite on illustration board and was a project for my animation/illustration class.

Bravo 343 Industries...Bravo.

On November 6th, 2012, I logged onto my profile and started Halo 4's campaign on Legendary. It was time for the Master Chief to wake from his long slumber.
On November 12th, 2012:
Eleven Hours of Campaign Time
2265 Kills (1106 of which were Headshots) with 194 Deaths (an 11.7 K/D ratio)
I have completed Halo 4's campaign on Legendary.

I would like to take a small breather from my Specimen Project rendering to say thank you to 343 Industries for making Halo 4.
I'm sure many of us had the same uneasy feeling when the new "Halo" trilogy was announce. We weren't entirely sure whether or not to trust 343 with our beloved "Halo". I was sure like that. When the game was first announced I was doubtful about this game, I wasn't sure what was going to happen story-wise nor was I sure if 343 Industries would be able to match up with Bungie's story telling. Like many people, I knew that there was a possibility for another Halo game to come after Halo 3 because of the Legendary ending, though at the same time I felt kind of comfortable thinking that this was the end. Though the idea that there was going to be a whole new trilogy? To me it just sounded like Microsoft wanted to milk the Halo cow dry.
However, as time went on and I learned more about who was on the team for Halo 4, my confidence with 343 began to grow with every behind the scenes video that was released, though I was still skeptic. I still wasn't sure if 343 could come even close to the story telling that Bungie had.
Today, all my doubts with 343 Industries have been dispelled.
343 Industries, I congratulate you for creating such an amazing, beautiful, and immersible game that towards the end made me tear up a little. Thank you so much for allowing me to continue Chief's journey and for giving me a game that I felt completely satisfied with. I can not wait for your next installment in the Reclaimer Trilogy!
Until then (if I ever get Xbox Live Gold), I will be continuing the fight in SpartanOps and Wargames.
Once again, Thank You 343 Industries!

Campus Movie Fest

So CampusMovieFest has finally made the short films submitted public. So if you want to see the short that I made "Dinner for Dummies", then here is the YouTube link:

If for whatever reason that link is not working, then you'l have to resort to watching it on CMF's personal YouTube channel or on their website. Here is the link to the short on their website (which can also take you to the YouTube link if you despise the layout there):

Anyways, I hope you enjoy the short that I made! It was a lot of fun and a lot of hard work but pretty worth it I would say. Will definitely do it again next time round! As well as participate in the 24 Hour Animation Contest (here's my friends' entry its pretty awesome!).

So I'm really tired right now but still got a lot of work ahead of me. Time to keep pressing on! :D

Weekly Update #4

Quick Weekly Update Notes Stuff:

  • Brace Yourself, Busy Weeks Are Coming.
  • Learning More About Drawing (I think I'm seeing a little bit of improvement in my figures...but I'm not satisfied. IT NEEDS TO BE BETTER!).
  • I need to continue practicing drawing!
  •  Lighting is really confusing.
  • Still worrying about applying for the BFA program....scary stuff!
  • Hanging with Friends outside your Major gets really difficult because of scheduling issues.
  • Listening to Music is Awesome! Especially original Film and Game soundtracks. Currently listening to the Dead Island Trailer song...so many feels :'(  (Attempting to "Glove" (light shows) is really relaxing too)

This update is a little earlier than the last one since tomorrow I'm going to be working on several assignments from my Light and Optics class and won't get a chance to write anything. Actually, I'm about to work on an essay for my History class (grrrr...) that's due tomorrow, which is kind of a nuisance because I fell a little behind on my G.E. course work because I've been working on the courses that are directed towards my major. Why? Well, because I need to be really focusing on those classes so that I am learning the necessary skills needed to go further in the program. I could rant on and on about G.E. courses, but for one thing I feel I need a little more concrete evidence to support my points and two, I just want to keep this post short.
Anyways, another busy week has come and gone and started again. Hopefully this is only because we're in the middle of the semester...

See You Next Time!

Weekly Update #3

Okay, so a little different than the last two updates. Well for the most part at least. This week I'm a little less busy and yet I'm still going to be busy. I spent the entire weekend inside the Art Building on campus, that was an interesting experience. Not too many people around so early in the semester so was alone in the entire building (thank god I didn't play "Slender"). Anyways, most of the time that I was in the Art building was taken up with rendering in graphite. I'm starting to learn why people hate rendering in graphite...

Oh by the way, the video that I mentioned in last week's post currently belongs to CampusMovieFest, so they get the say as to whether or not I am allowed to upload the video anywhere public (i.e. Facebook and YouTube). They mentioned that once they have decided on the winners, they will make all the videos public and that should be in about a week and a half (I hope!). So I guess I'll link the video here once I am allowed to do that. Sorry, would like to link it now, but rules are rules. So sit tight! Maybe I'll upload some drawings to keep it interesting?

Till next week!

Weekly Update #2

Last week I finally got enough time to participate in Campus Movie Fest and was somehow able to shoot and edit a short in a very short amount of time. I don't think its the best thing that I've done, but needless to say I'm proud of it...even though I lost a lot of sleep and had to work really hard to make sure I was caught up with all my classes. This week is pretty much the same situation (least in the sense that I'm losing a day because of pre-planned appointments) so gotta make sure I'm finished with everything that's due before then. Kind of looking forward to next week because of this actually, since that's when I stop having to lose a day to do some other pre-planned thing in my schedule.
Needless to say, last week was rather rewarding, especially on the weekend. I was working on my drawings in Perspective, and I think I'm getting the hang of it. However, on Saturday my computer decided it would be nice to install some new updates and not save a very important document that I had been typing up, let alone auto saving it. I'm still a little bit befuddled about the whole incident because I could have sworn that I had saved it several times before it did that. Anyways, had to retype it from the very beginning, which needless to say, took a REALLY long time to finish.
I think I'm getting a little bit better at my figure drawings, thought its definitely something that I have to keep practicing, because right now its very "hit and miss" with my figures. Though I'm gonna do my best to get these drawings down ASAP!
Well, back to work, next time then.

Weekly Update #1

I'm in the middle of doing some thumbnail sketches of some Cube Cities, when I thought it'd be nice to write something on here. I'm gonna give this a try of updating this with a weekly post...by the end it might end up being monthly updates, but we'll see.
Anyways, over the past couple of weeks I've been learning all that I can from my classes about Perspective, technique, and Figure drawing. Its mind-boggling how much I still need to learn as well as how much I have learned. I mean this past week it suddenly occurred to me that I've only really been drawing for little over a year now.
I've been declared as an Animation/Illustration major for a little over three semesters, but I'm not counting the first semester because there was only one class out of the three that I was taking where I felt that I was really improving on the minimal skills that I already had. The only times where I've done anything directed towards drawing is the occasional doodles in classes and a few summer art camps that I took when I was younger. Looking back now, I wish I had stuck with doing those art camps...might have learned a little more.
But getting back on track, going back and taking one of the new introductory courses which is a Light and Optics class, has really shown me that there are a lot of introductory skills that I have been missing. I'm learning more and more every day and I'm always so excited to continue learning! But its not just that class, its also the advanced figured drawing class that I'm taking. Truth be told, my figures are still terrible (not as terrible as before mind, I am improving!), but I'm always excited to go in and learn more, even if the class is really long and a lot of work and really early in the morning.
Speaking of working, I need to get back to doing these thumbnails. Yeah, I know this post is pretty much all over the place, but I just felt like writing some thoughts down. Maybe I'll be a little more on topic next time. Until then!

tl;dr: I feel I made the right choice and I really want to stay here and learn more!

Fail

So apparently you can delete old blog posts...yeah I think its pretty obvious now that I don't use this kind of stuff.
Oh well, I'm not gonna delete anything, I think it'd be fun to see what I put up here almost three years ago which in turn was an image that was made about maybe five years ago...maybe more.
Well, back to work!

("Back in Black" just started playing... what an awesome way and song to get back to work)

Let's Try This Again...

Okay, so the last time I tried this....didn't really work out. Hopefully this time I'll actually start posting some stuff on here. So let's just pretend that the posts below this one don't exist? Does that sound cool?
...No?
Oh...
Well okay, well anyways, in short, I'm trying this again and hopefully I keep on top of actually posting some neat stuff for whoever accidentally wanders into this blog.

Should really be getting back to work,
Henry Farmer
