Portfolio Passed!

So this has been delayed a little bit, but I passed my mid-program portfolio review!! However the door has only opened, I still need to step into it, which is the next part, the sketchbook! I've been ever so excited for this and still can't believe it. Before I continue I want to thank everyone that has encouraged and helped me along the way to get to this point. Thank you all!!
Anyways, I thought it would be nice to show the kind of stuff I was drawing almost two years ago.
Sorry I couldn't find my original digital scans, so I'm re-scanning the only copy of what I have.

Mid-Program Review

Crit Please? I know I still got some cleaning up to do but would like to know what you think of it in its state.

Also here's my personality walk for Ani 51b. I want to include it but not entirely sure how much of it I should have.

Pinecone Painting

To me personally pinecone should really just be one word, you know kind of like pineapple, although I guess there's probably some weird English rule that will override my wish for pinecone to eventually become one word. However until such time occurs, I shall continue writing pinecone as one word. Maybe someone could explain to me why pinecone is spelled that way. Okay, back to the point of this post.

This project took several hours to complete, although while I am pleased with how it turned out, I feel like I could have done a whole lot better on it. Hence why I am deciding to redo my painting hopefully in the relatively upcoming future, even though I'm going to be working on another project at the same time. I really want to nail this painting as best as I can. This painting was done in acrylics on a 7" x 10" illustration board. Anyways, here is my painting!

Lasagna

So last post I said something about getting supplies to make lasagna. Well don't fret I did end up making the lasagna with my roommate, or is it apartment-mate? What would you call someone that lives in the same apartment as you? I mean he doesn't live in the same room as me, but we live in the same apartment. I guess it would be apartment-mate? Anyways check out some pics of this b-e-a-uuuutiful lasagna!

Third Digital Painting

Here is the next one in the semester long series of 90 minute digital paintings. Gosh today has just been...well, tiresome to say the least, learning so much in both modeling in painting as well as in Maya. Anyways gotta go out to get ingredients to make lasagna!

Second Digital Painting

This is another 90 minute Digital Painting assignment from my advanced painting class. Gosh, this week has just been so....mind bending. Wouldn't that be an awesome power in Avatar? Instead of elemental bending you could also mind bend? You could like create illusions to work against or for your opponents. I guess that's kind of a more offensive skill than defensive. Sorry, tangent. Anyways, here it is. I'll be honest, I really wish I was better at this, but that can only happen through practice so until such time that I do get better you'll have to deal with these....practices.

Attempting to Paint Digitally

So the mark of a new semester, I'm taking an advanced painting class this semester as well as an introduction to modeling in Maya. I am both terrified of the idea and incredibly excited about taking these two classes. I mean of course I'm taking two G.E. courses. Anyways, I don't have that much experience with painting digitally so this was an interesting assignment to do. We had to copy the painting (not paint over it) to the best of our abilities for 90 minutes. And this was the result.

I'll be honest, this wasn't all that great, fun, but definitely not great. But the idea is to keep getting better at it throughout the semester! :)

Hello Alpha!

This is "Alpha". He is my new desktop computer that I constructed during the summer.
So why is he called Alpha?
Well for one thing I love Greek lettering.
For another this is the first computer that I ever bought all the parts for and constructed.
And finally, Alpha has blue lights and a computer so I thought of Church (or as he is now known as Epsilon/Alpha) from Red vs. Blue so I figured it was appropriate.
Just gotta keep him away from team killers....

Alright you guys, this is it the final part of my wrap up of last semester. This is my final animation reel for my introduction to animation in Maya class and I have to say I am quite pleased by how my animations all turned out! Enjoy and on to the new semester!

Okay you guys, just a note, if you're going to attempt something new that you've never tried before, don't do it when you haven't slept for a long period of time otherwise the quality in your work will dive down. Learn from my mistake.

About Last Semester... (cont.) (Still Life Project)

Alright, so this was the main project of the semester (we're getting close to the end now!) which took several weeks to complete. I'm quite happy with it! Of course there is still a lot to improve upon, but for the most part I feel pretty good about it.

First we drew out our thumbnail of our still life.

Then we painted over our thumbnails to get a basic idea of how we wanted to paint our final piece. (I chose the last one)

And once we have chosen the scheme that we want we go ahead and paint it! Pretty neat huh!
